VIRTUAL DATE NIGHT IDEAS FOR LOCKDOWN

Lockdown 3.0 seems to have been the toughest yet. It sucks even more if you're currently dating or not able to see your other half. Virtual date nights are a way to spend time together whilst apart. Whether it's your first date or your hundredth, here are some ideas for a virtual date night.

Watch a movie or series together

Grab the popcorn, curl up in a blanker, start the video call and away you go with virtual movie night! Whether you're opting for a romcom or a thriller, watching a movie together is a great way to virtually spend some time together. Pressing the play button at exactly the same time will allow you to enjoy a movie and also discuss it if that's your kinda thing. You could also start a series together, whether that's a classic like How I Met Your Mother or an introduction to the Duke in Bridgerton, this will help keep regular contact if you watch a few episodes a week together - it also gives you lots to talk about (I'm thinking the Duke and his spoon, if you know, you know).

Virtual dinner/drinks

Ready, steady, cook? Set yourselves a recipe that you both like the look of and see how they turn out. You can video call during the process then sit down to eat together (sort of). Team this with a few drinking games and there you go, a virtual date night sorted!

Plan future date ideas

We all know that lockdown is going to lift eventually, spend some time planning some fab dates when we are allowed back out into the real world and places begin to open up again. Add a list of 52 date ideas which will keep you going once a week for a full year. How about a romantic Dedham Vale Boat Trip for those Essex dating folk? If you're looking for something a little more arts and culture, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum is a great idea for those Devon dating. If it's your first date, just do a top 10, you don't want to scare them off straight away by planning a full year of dates!

Gaming night

Whilst you can't have a classic game of Monopoly when you're apart, there are lots of online options for Gaming night. Whether you download an app like Draw Something or Scrabble or you have a console at home, there are plenty of options. Both have a console? Grab the controller and have a tournament of Rocket League or Fifa.  If those sort of games aren't your thing, you could play some online quizzes or some classic drinking games if that's more your cup of beverage!

Those are my initial virtual dating ideas, I'm sure there are plenty more out there too. Virtual dates can be a safe, super fun experience, and if they turn out to be boring on the first date it saves time and effort for any further interaction.  Do you have any virtual date ideas or experiences to share?
